Product Description

Richard Wagner wrote the overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (The Master-Singers of Nuremberg) in a few weeks after the completion of the text of the opera, between Palm Sunday and Easter 1862. This introduction named "Prelude" had its premiere in the same year at a concert conducted by Wagner himself in Leipzig. The whole opera premiered on 21 June 1868 in Munich. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Albert Schwarzmann as guest conductor on 23 May 2009 at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/cross-over/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/cross-over/hnum/10428710?iampartner=303&subid=umr60&ref=partner.jpc.de .
