Bruce Abbott

Bruce Abbott began his professional music career at the age of 12, when he played with a band that performed at dances and wedding receptions. Especially adept with classical and jazz music, Abbott earned a Master of Music Performance degree at the University of Rhode Island and played dates around the world, including a concert tour of South Korea and a performance at former President Jimmy Carter's 75th birthday celebration. His other career highlights include performances at the Newport Jazz Festival and a tour with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, under Dick Johnson's direction. Abbott has also taught music as the former Director of Instrumental Ensembles at Rhode Island's Salve Regina College and at Nauset Regional High School on Cape Cod, as a saxophone instructor at the University of Rhode Island, and as a private tutor. Abbott has recorded over a dozen CDs with the North Star Jazz Ensemble on North Star Records, including Romancing the Sax and Moonlight & Sax. He has also released several albums of his original compositions including After the Dust Has Settled, Beneath the Stars, and Light on the Leaves. He is currently a music composer, publisher and producer located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, USA.
