What to do when COVID prevents a performance of Corellis Christmas Concerto on Christmas Eve? A cellist was still available, and so this piece was composed. In the style of Corelli, this sonata begins in darkness and ends in light, with the Pastorale final movement. The accompaniment can be played on piano, organ or harpsichord, with optional cello continuo.

The Sonata was premiered on Christmas Eve, 2021, in Newcastle, Australia, with Matthew Banney as cellist.
