Product Description
In the spring of 2021 Tim Page posted the following on FB: "This is not exactly a recommendation as I think most of my friends will not like this book at all. Still, 50 years ago it was my favorite reading and I've never forgotten it. For better and worse, it helped shape the person I became. I bought "Against Nature" (also translated as "Against the Grain" or available in the original French as "À Rebours") in early 1972. I was a lost hippie kid, trying to be Utopian and failing miserably. Somehow I picked it up at the legendary UConn bookstore Paperback Gallery and it changed my life."
I of course was completely intrigued, and got from Amazon, both the original in French and a translation in English. I devoured the books and ended up with passages from six chapters that I have set to music for tenor and piano.
1. Les tons et les couleurs
2. Les deux locomotives, Crampton et L'Engerth
3. Les pierres et les bijoux
4. Salomé de Gustave Moreau
5. Les odeurs et les parfums
