Product Description
The time-honored musical device known as hemiola, that is, accents across strong beats and barlines, using odd-numbered groups of notes common or cut-time, is an ideal fit with the rhythmic panache that is at the heart of true ragtime.
In this classic five-part composition, each section uses either 3rds or 6ths to pianistically apply hemiolas, in F major, its sub-dominant, Bb, and the relative minor of the dominant, A minor. Each strain has a different left-hand accompaniment style, striding bass, stop-time, single-notes with chords, etc. Suggested fingerings for best rag feeling and ease of execution. Pedal on the strong beats, and Don't Go TOO Fast! Approx. duration at suggested tempo is 4 mins.
