Johann Strauss (the younger) dedicated this wonderful polka, his op117, to Maria Anna of Savoy, Empress of Austria in 1852 and its popularity is such that it is regularly included in the famous Vienna New Year's Concerts. This arrangement for string trio gives the melodic interest to the violin throughout and parts for both second violin and viola are included.
