Product Description

Gaudete is a traditional 16th Century song, originally used by the Monks as a chant at Christmastime. Although it may be sung as written by the whole choir in straight SATB, I would suggest the verses are sung by soloists, from various sections of the choir - the female voice taking the lead, with the male voice taking the harmony 2 bars later. By spreading out the solos & having the choir joining with the chorus this not only makes for an impressive balance of voices, but also makes it less Latin for the performers to learn. Ideally this is a piece that should be sung a capella & makes an impressive opening piece to a Christmas Concert with the choir processing through the audience with lights dimmed, carrying candles / lanterns. As with all of my pieces, training files are available from jerry.gamble@talktalk.net.
