THE EMPERORS HYMN by Joseph Haydn is one of the most famous played pieces in music and was written in honor of the Emperor Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire. This tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune for the national anthem of Germany Although playable and enjoyed on all levels it is written for young string players on the easy intermediate level and is scored in 3 part harmony with viola doubling 2nd violin and cello doubling string bass. In the event instrumentation is lacking this concept will make your group sound fuller and give your players more confidence.
