Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona wrote music with Afro-Cuban roots in a classical style. Siboney, which he wrote for piano, uses broad melodies with an unmistakable Latin flavor. This arrangement is for chamber orchestra: strings plus seven single winds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone), percussion (including bongos and congas), and piano. The melodic phrases are answered by other sections of the orchestras, and the answers are equally Latin and as fun to play.
