An arrangement of Massanet's famous "Meditation" from "Thaïs", for solo violin with string orchestra. The solo violin part is a replica of the regular Marsick version for violin and piano, and although a solo part is included here the Marsick edition can be easily substituted. Thus the solo violin has the melody throughout, even in the middle section where the orchestra take over in the original.
The string orchestra score is written for three violin parts plus cello and bass, but also included is a viola part which follows the third violin part exactly. The orchestral parts are intermediate in difficulty generally but of course the solo violin part is more difficult.
