A symphonic band arrangement of Holst's underperformed Japanese Suite. Japanese Suite was created through a collaboration with Gustav Holst and Japanese choreographer Michio Ito using Japanese tunes that Ito had whistled to Holst, besides the Dance of the Marionette, which was created by Holst. The piece has five distinct movements, with the prelude later serving as an interlude. This arrangement calls for a band of one piccolo, two flutes, one oboe, one bassoon, one Bb clarinets, one bass clarinet, one contrabass clarinet, one soprano saxophone, two alto saxophones, one tenor saxophone, one baritone saxophone, three trumpets, two horns, three trombones, one bass trombone, two baritones, one tuba and six percussionists (bass drum, crash cymbals, crotales, glockenspiel, marimba, sleighbells, snare drum, suspended cymbal, tam-tam, timpani, toms, triangle, vibraphone, wind chimes and xylophone)
