Two verses of a well-known Spiritual are heard in this sensitive arrangement. The 2nd verse is more difficult, as it is at a higher pitch in order to enhance the intensity of the mood. It is a manageable piece however for student or amateur quartet. The melody, on 1st violin, is very prominent throughout, supported by appropriate harmonies which are sometimes chromatic. Rhythmically it is simple, and overall it is a very moving arrangement.
