Product Description

West Virginia Hills is the oldest song composed in honor of the state of West Virginia. Words and music were written by Dr. D. B. Purinton in 1877, twelve years after West Virginia became a state. Purinton later became President of the West Virginia University (WVU). West Virginia Hills was first publicly performed by WVU seniors. Later, a similar song, The West Virginia Hills, was composed by H.E. Engle and Ellen King, and published in 1886. The West Virginia Hills is also available at SheetMusicPlus (arranged by Sandy McIntire). This arrangement is for voice with an easy piano accompaniment.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
