Product Description

Amy Marcy Beach was a pioneering woman composer and concert pianist in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Her music reflected the rich tapestries of the French Impressionist style, but with a true American flavor. Her A Hermit Thrush at Morn (Op. 92 no.2 - 1921) was written as a solo piano piece, but works very well in this setting for piccolo and piano by John Gibson.

(review in Flute Talk Magazine, January 2017) "Gibson has arranged this programmatic piano work for piccolo and piano. Based on a poem by J. Clare, (I heard from morn to morn a merry thrush/ Sing hymns of rapture while I drank the sound/ With joy.),the work features Pan-like runs and bird calls. This Romantic-style work has beautiful lyricism and is an excellent adaptation for piccolo. It would be a perfect addition to a college flute recital. K.B."
