Here is a fun, mixed level, 1 piano, 4-hands duet arrangement of the old French Christmas carol "Pat-a-pan." This arrangement is designed for a beginning student to play the PRIMO while an intermediate player (teacher, parent, friend, sibling) plays the SECONDO. All notes in the PRIMO are played singly with the hands in one position centered around middle C and then played one octave higher. Though written in the key of C major, the left hand plays a G# occasionally (fingering is included on a few of the notes).

The PRIMO plays the melody for the first verse, then the SECONDO plays the melody for the second verse while the PRIMO adds drum-like harmony. This upbeat, festive tune is perfect for recitals or just some family fun around the piano and promises to be a favorite addition to your holiday repertoire.
