This is all about the iconic Joshua trees in Joshua Tree National Park. On our first visit, we arrived later in the afternoon. The low winter sun cast soft, warming rays across the landscape, a landscape covered in Joshua trees seemingly just doing their own thing, growing in different shapes at different angles. For us, the haiku was different as well, an attempt to capture what we were feeling. Flowing patterns and single melody lines in the song paint the colors of the setting sun on the Joshua trees blues, golds, oranges. The trees sing their lullabies with hushed voices that sometimes rise in intensity for the listeners. As the sun sets, the Joshua trees gently say, Goodnight.
