Product Description

The overture to the opera La Forza del Destino is one of Giuseppe Verdi's most popular orchestra pieces, but it had not received its final form at the premiere of the opera at Bolshoi Theatre in St. Petersburg on 29 October 1862. The first performance in Italy was no success at all, so Verdi reworked the whole opera and as well the overture. The overture as known today premiered on 27 February 1869 at La Scala in Milan. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra, a special wish of conductor Hansjoerg Angerer, and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer on 17 May 2014 at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria.
