Product Description

The March of Khedive Abbas Hilmi II was composed by Matilda Abdul-Masih in honor of Khedive Abbas Hilmi II, the ruler of Egypt. The march was traditionally played before every musical performance in the Nahawand maqam, becoming an essential part of official events and ceremonies. Despite the death of the Khedive in 1914, the march continued to be performed and was recorded in 1909 by Amin El-Bouzi and his ensemble. It was also performed by Colonel Ahmed Raouf and Sayed El-Sweisi in 1898.
The march was later used in the soundtrack of the Egyptian film "Antar and Lableb", further solidifying its significance in Egyptian musical culture.
The march was written with the harmonic style of the 19th century in Egypt, where the focus was on the melody rather than the accompaniment.
