Product Description

"Llwyn Onn" (The Ash Grove) is a beloved traditional Welsh folk song with origins dating back to at least the 18th century. The melody became widely known after its publication in the early 19th century with lyrics attributed to John Oxenford. The tune is recognized for its flowing, lyrical character, often associated with themes of nostalgia and longing. Over time, it has been adapted into various choral, instrumental, and even hymn arrangements. This version for Alto Saxophone and Piano brings out the expressive beauty of the melody, allowing the saxophone to sing with its warm, resonant tone.

The alto saxophone is a transposing instrument in Eb, meaning that when it plays a written C, it sounds as an Eb in concert pitch. In this arrangement, the piano part is adjusted accordingly to match the saxophones tuning while providing a harmonic foundation that enhances the songs folk-like charm.
