Product Description

Oskar Nedbal was a Bohemian violist, composer and conductor. He studied in Prague with Antonìn Dvoràk, was principal conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and co-founder of the Bohemian String Quartet as violist. He also was founder and chief conductor of the Vienna Tonkuenstler Orchestra. The ballet Pohàdka o Honzovi" (The Tale of the Simple Johnny, Der faule Hans) was composed in 1902. Krakowiak is a Polish folk dance from the region around Krakow. It was a popular society dance for couples in the 19th century, in fast 2/4 time with syncopated rhythm. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
