Product Description

Every pro viola player or serious student will have played the Stamitz Viola Concerto at one point: it is one of the most popular choices for auditions, world-wide. However, how many of us actually have had a chance to play it with orchestra? Here is the next best thing, to play it as part of a string quartet!
I have made no cuts whatsoever, this is the full concerto, and the solo part is absolutely unaltered. I've also deliberately not put fingerings or bowings in apart from what's in the score already, so that you can put in your own.
In this arrangement, however, I have drafted in the viola player to also play in the many, extended tutti passages in the 1st and 2nd movements, to keep them busy throughout. The 3rd movement is so viola dominant already, so there was no need to add anything here - the viola player is only playing what's already in the the solo part in the 3rd movement.

I hope that you enjoy this arrangement of the Stamitz viola concerto, and I hope that it proves useful, and that it will bring more opportunities to perform the concerto outside auditions (and actually perform the complete concerto, rather than just playing the exposition of the 1st movement hundreds of times)
