Product Description

This collection of 71 diverse trio arrangements is generated from twelve interchangeable instrumental parts. Those parts consist of three single-reed woodwinds (flute, clarinet in B flat, and bass clarinet), three double-reed woodwinds (oboe, English horn, and bassoon), three strings (violin, viola and cello) and three saxophones (soprano, alto and baritone). The three Menuetti and their respective trios are taken from K. 331 and K. 282 (both piano sonatas, and K. 421 (a string quartet). As compositions, they are charming and compelling, yet their techical demands fall well within reach of intermediate level players. Professionals will also enjoy playing these pieces as the music is of the highest quality, which scarcely needs to be said. The 187 page PDF file includes four sample, representative scores and all of the individual parts for each of the three Menuetti.
Each of the twelve interchangeable parts has been carefully tailored to the character and needs of the individual instrument. The first group of 36 trios do not include saxophones, and they are given in the original concert-pitch keys of the Menuetti. The second group of 35 trios includes one or more saxophones, and, for them, K. 331 and 282 have been transposed to keys that are convenient to the saxophones. This collection is conceived as a useful resource for private teachers and school music teachers of a wide variety of instruments, and would be perfect for use in summer music-camp programs as well. Music students may now play chamber music with their friends, even if their instruments are not typically grouped together. The audio sample was created using Aria Player within Finale software, and the two back-to-back excerpts are: K. 331 for flute, clarinet and bassoon and K. 421 for oboe, English horn and bassoon. They are rendered without the customary repeats.
