My Big Bicycle is a solo from our travel-themed May Piano Book, which was originally written in the key of F Major, but has been transposed down D Major. This fast paced solo is in 3/4 and is chock full of 8th notes in the right hand making for a nice challenge for your late beginner piano students!
The lyrics of the piece describe a fun day riding a bicycle around town:
I like to ride my big bicycle all around, up and down, all over my street and neighborhood. Watch as the wheels spin and spin really fast so I zoom to and fro all day and night long, here we go!
Ching says the bell in my handle bar so you can hear as I go past you and so far down the street. I like to ride my big bicycle all around, up and down, all over, and then right back home!
There are four versions of the song you can use with students:
- Version 1 with regular note heads and sharps on Fs
- Version 2 with note names in the note heads and sharps on Fs
- Version 3 with regular note heads and a D Major key signature.
- Version 4 with note names in the note heads and a D Major key signature.
