Product Description
Arranged for mountain dulcimer in standard DAd (1-5-8) tuning. The 1+ fret is required.
Suggested for early Intermediate players and above.
Alternate tunings:
Standard dulcimers can benefit from tuning down to CGC (you're tuned to the key of C Major, but you'll now be playing this G Major arrangement in F Major) for a fuller sound while still playing the tab numbers as written.
BARITONE dulcimers tuned to AEA can also play the diatonic numbers as they appear in this tablature. The original published key of this song is A Major, but it was transposed to the dulcimer-friendly key of G Major. You will be effectively playing this in C Major, but the tune sounds great played with the lower voice of your instrument.
This iconic folk song is one that can appear a bit complex when looking at the standard notation. However, as with many of these "songs of the people", much of the rhythm will carry you through the sticky looking parts. The axiom "if you can sing it, you can play it" applies.
This is a great song to develop some good right hand strumming techniques. Two pages of instruction and strum diagram alternatives have been inlcuded.
An instructional video demonstrating the strum rhythm has been included in the SMP preview.
Included in this packet:
~DAd tablature
~Lead sheet standard notation
~Complete lyrics (8 verses)
~Accompaniment chords
~Suggestions on alternate tunings
~Strum pattern diagrams and additional instruction
