Product Description

The anonymous tune DAPHNE, (also known as Hit and Miss) was a great favourite in Elizabethan times, appearing in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book (c.1612, with variations by Giles Farnaby) and in Giles Earles Song-book (1626).

As a song, the lyric tells the story of the ancient Greek myth regarding Apollos pursuit of the nymph Daphne, who escaped only by turning herself into a tree.

I have arranged it here for four guitars and bass guitar. The bass guitar part can also be played on a baritone guitar (tuned A-D-G-C-E-A), so I have included a baritone guitar part (in treble clef and transposed up a fifth, so the player can use normal guitar fingerings).
Guitars 1-4 are equally difficult, with solos. If a sixth guitar is available, they should strum the chords from letter J (see chord symbols on the bass part ).

Score and parts.
