This poignantly rendered tremolo piece was composed at the very end of Augustin Barrios Mangore's life, in 1944. According to the composer, it was inspired by a blind beggar from the other side of the road from his home, whose persistent cry was "An alm for the love of God" as he tapped his stick. The piece itself expresses an exquisite sadness in its first, minor key section, but shifts to a sense of joy and hope as it moves to the major key in its second section. Fully fingered conventional notation with guitar Tablature for extra support, this is a beautiful piece well worth learning.
