In 2015, our 2nd child, Dodger, passed away unexpectedly when he was only 7 months old. It was the biggest shock of my life, and one that will affect me until I join him in death. This experience woke me up to the reality that we never know when our last day on earth is. We never know when our loved one's last day on earth is.

I hope we can remember to cherish our time here on earth, appreciating the opportunities we have every day to enjoy those we love. They are the truly "beautiful things" in our lives.
