This single movement piece was originally intended to be the third movement of my Sonata for Piano: Illuminations. However, as with many ideas that I pursue, the music developed a life of its own apart from the original vision of the piece. This movement then became a fantasy with an over-the-top technical flare that was as much a visual display as virtuosic orchestration of dynamic elements of the music.
