Product Description

Shifting Leaves captures my experience growing up, watching the reversed cycle of the Japanese Maple tree outside my dining room window. Growing empty leaves in the spring, the tree wouldnt fill its cells until it decided it was time. This created a wonderful feeling of anticipation, as I never knew when the first shades of green would appear. This piece explores that feeling of anticipation and the relief when spring finally did roll around, the tree shaking itself awake for the warm seasons ahead.

This work was premiered by the Montana State University Horn Ensemble in April of 2024, before being performed at the International Horn Society conference in Fort Collins, Colorado, by the Horns of Montana later that year.
