"De Blin' Man Stood On De Road and Cried" is an African American Spiritual with biblical commentary of the story of Bartimaeus and its relation to the human experience of African American slavery. Typically, this spiritual is sung and performed in major mode. However, to add more poignancy to the text, I have set it in minor-mode until the final verse going from Eb-minor to C-major briefly and ending in A-minor. It is for high-voice and piano accompaniment.
