Here are 10 pieces chosen by the L.A.based cellist Wendy Velasco from the cello works of Barbara Arens. They were selected to acquaint cellists at Suzuki levels 2-4 with fun techniques like slapping the cello, left and right hand pizzicato; and various rhythms: rumba, waltz, huapango, tango... Each piece has an accompanying page of exercises, helping the student to get a good feel for the rhythms.
