Product Description

An enjoyable and satisfying arrangement for solo viola of Pachelbel's famous Canon in D. This arrangement has transposed the piece into C major, which works far better as a solo viola piece. It includes harmonised double stopping, meaning that the piece works perfectly as an unaccompanied viola work, with no need for piano to provide the harmony.

All of Emma's arrangements find creative and artistic ways to re-present original songs in a way that suits the new instruments and ensemble whilst maintaining the integrity of the original piece. Her aim is to go far beyond a simple copying of the melody and harmony, but to create an arrangement that sounds as if the piece was always meant for these new instruments.

Emma Butterworth is a composer for film and TV and also a successful Suzuki cello teacher. She has an intimate knowledge of how to write for strings, and has written and arranged a vast number of pieces for cellos and strings especially. All pieces have been played and performed.
