About the Original Arrangement:

In 1973, while serving as Minister of Music in Colorado Springs, it was my hope to recreate the spirit of the original carol for our our Youth Choir to use in a series of Community Concerts in the city. The arrangement was born of that need. Though not in print until 2015, that original arrangement - modified to use harp (or piano) in place of guitar has been performed many times. A portion can be heard on the Houston Chamber Choirs 2018 Christmas album, Behold the Star.  Thomas Coker, July 1, 2015.

About This A Cappella Arrangement:

Just as necessity is the mother of invention, so also this totally a cappella version of Silent Night was an answer to the desire of our vocal quartet to add it to our repertoire of the Christmas music we sang while caroling outdoors. In this version, the harp/accompaniment part has been adapted to voices and was used for the first time in 2022. It is my hope that it will continue the tradition of sharing peace in our time.
