J. S. Bachs Cantata 156, Ich steh mit einem Fuss im Grabe, was first performed on January 23, 1729. This was the fourth and last Cantata that he composed. Arioso, meaning airy, is the opening Sinfonia. Bach used his Arioso melody again in several other instrumental compositions.
