Product Description

Two different flute or violin descants for the Christmas hymns "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "Once in Royal Davids City," including intro and interlude that connects the hymns. Based on the tunes ST. LOUIS by Lewis H. Redner and IRBY by Henry J. Gauntlett. 1 page (file is 2 pages; first is sample page). Use hymnal or other source for accompaniment. Descants for both hymns fit Lutheran Worship (LW) settings, and Lutheran Service Book (LSB) provided the Bb is changed to B natural in measure 36:4. O Little Town of Bethlehem also fits the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW) setting. Descants may also fit other hymnal settings. Example: For Christmas Eve or Service of Lessons and Carols, sing the first stanza of each hymn after the reading Luke 2:1-4, with flute and/or violin playing solo intro, descants, and solo interlude, such as: - Reading: Luke 2:1-4 - Flute/violin solo intro - Hymn: O Little Town of Bethlehem, stanza 1 [with descant] - Flute/violin solo interlude - Hymn: Once in Royal Davids City, stanza 1 [with descant] Or use descants separately and omit interlude.
