The "bergamasca" was a lusty 16th-century dance depicting the allegedly awkward manners of the inhabitants of Bergamo, in northern Italy, where the dance supposedly originated.
This is our original performance of my variations back in 1975, with the late Chris Benson on cello and D W Solomons on guitar.
