Score
This 1978 composition in Japanese style
was inspired by the book (Chinmoku - Silence) by Shusaku Endo
(a historical novel based on events in Japan in the 17th century -
the title refers to the silence of God in the face of suffering.
Kichijiro is the name of the protagonist in the novel)
Half-way through, the music goes into a moving and sad pentatonic version of
the carol "O Come all you faithful" followed by a more energetic version
of the original theme mixed with the carol
