Unknown info about song "Ochi chornye" (Dark Eyes). Poem "Ochi chornye" (Dark Eyes) was published in Literaturnaya Gazeta on 17 January 1843. Author of the text Eugene Grebinka (1812-1848) - Ukrainian writer, born in Poltava province, a gentleman, an educated man. Verse was dedicated to beloved Maria, daughter of a retired staff captain, landowner Rastenberg. Often say "music by unknown author" which is incorrect. Romance was performed on the music of waltz Florian Hermann (German by birth). A popular version of melody was written by Adalgiso Ferraris and published around 1910, with German editor Otto Kul. Later Fedor Shalyapin took the Romance "Ochi chornye" (Dark Eyes) to his repertoire and introduced him to the world during his tour. Shalyapin added to the text a few verses apparently written by him, which dedicated to his future wife - Italian Jola tornagi.
