Product Description
"Thirst" is a powerful outcry against one's inner demons, a rebuttal
to the negative thoughts that we all have experienced at times, and a
prayer for peace. Broad and dramatic, with a virtuosic and powerful
piano accompaniment.
Lyrics:
O, have done, have done, you treacherous voices! You who torment me night and day!
Thieves of sleep, despoilers of peace! One could bleed forever and not sate you!
Rapacious void! What will it take to silence your judgments?
I am so dry. For water-spirit you proffer paltry husks of thought! Tender sentience you cannot abide. Is it so much to ask, a pang of pleasure, a breath of life? Cannot the soul of this boy lead more sure the man than whips of cruel scrutiny?
Free me! Free me, you thirsty despot! You are not my soul, but fear and nonsense!
Let the wings of life bear me up near God that I may warm myself in his pleasure!
I would come in from the cold and be at peace! Let me see! Let me see! And seeing, I shall know and not divide. My heart prays but to live its true life in life, and know all things. Let it be, that all may be a calm, my soul at rest!
