Product Description

copyright 2005 by AlbisMusic - Julius Katterfeldt (1813-1886) started his career like Vincent Lübeck jun. once did: focused on a Schnitger organ. For his father worked at the Jacobi Church in Hamburg. Above all, the three Nachspiele op. 1, which he dedicated to three Hamburg citizens in the early 1830s, can be related to this early period; they were probably written after Katterfeldt's "master apprenticeship" with Christian Heinrich Rinck in Darmstadt. Later active in Schleswig, Preetz and Schwerin, this famous Sonata for Organ was printed by him in 1885, whose introductory section is inconceivable without knowledge of the virtuoso organ style of the Buxtehude tradition.
