Inspiration:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was tasked by my choir professor to compose a choral piece, and with me meditating and thinking of inspirations while at home; I thought of my late uncle and grandfather. I never got to meet my uncle and with my grandfather, he passed away in the summer of 2018. I never really absorbed what really happened and I never had the chance to express how I really felt, until I found the poem "Libre soy".

The piece is based on the funeral poem "Libre soy" by an unknown author. The main theme is the calming freedom that is an afterthought when it comes to grieving and a homage to my uncle and grandfather.
