The Etude in D# (Ashleigh's Haunt) is a piece I wrote as a self-teaching method - it's intended as an exercise for the left hand. The piece demands that the pianist is able to decode a difficult key signature, and is able to execute a series of very energetic broken chords up and down the keyboard. The melody is relatively simple - but its flowing rhythm will make it glaringly obvious if a student fails to keep a steady time!
