24 Preludes composed by Milo Graamans in Nov.-Dec. 2020.
"
Other composers have done sets of preludes in every major and minor key, including Bach and Chopin. While not attempting to mimic either of these greats, I did take a page out of Bachs book by starting with C major and C minor, then ascending chromatically. My Prelude No. 22 in B-flat minor also quotes the opening measure of Chopins C minor prelude.
Most of my preludes began as improvisations which I recorded, transcribed, and then edited to my liking. The primary exception is the F major prelude, which was designed around a middle voice that follows first a diatonic scale, then the circle of fifths, and finally a chromatic scale.
I have intentionally not included any metronome markings, pedaling, phrasing, or articulation. You can look up my performances of these preludes on YouTube for a suggestion of one way to perform these pieces, but other interpretations of what is written are valid.
These pieces do not need to be performed as a set; they can be presented individually."
