Kyrgyz Rhythms is a folk song that uses a variety of rhythms and pitches, and can provide a challenge for nearly every instrument. This part is for the piccolo, preferably in a concert band, and for this part, the piccolo must play quite high notes that are outside the range of beginners. This is why we advise that the piccolo player for Kyrgyz Rhythms be quite experienced. The piccolo part is nearly the same as the flute part (pitched one octave higher), but does contain two short solos at the end of the song. Since there are usually very few piccolo players in a concert band, this can help build confidence in a piccolo player.

The part contains a wide variety of musical elements, pitch, rhythm, tempo, key etc. The piece is divided into different sections by two or three bar rests, that can prepare the performer for the next section. A piccolo player should keep in mind the dynamics, and try and meet the dynamic range required. In addition, remember that the flutes are your friends, listen for their part. And remember, don't forget your solos.

If playing in a non-concert band environment, the three bar rests are optional, and should just be skipped over.
