Raca is an Aramaic word meaning "empty-headed fool." So this is a "Fool's Overture." This whimsical piece features temple blocks, agogo bells, asymmetric changing time signatures, and off-beat melodies. The scene is a jester in court going about all his foolishness. The slower middle section is a contrast to all the silliness - perhaps depicting a romantic fool. The piece then ends with a recap of the various whimsical themes.
