Johann Strauss (Father), founder of the Strauss dynasty, wrote this galop using popular Spanish dance rhythms in 1837 in Vienna and presented it for the first time in August 1837 in the Viennese inn "Goldene Birn" (Golden Peach),.

This transcription was commissioned by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg and first performed conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their 2014 New Year's Concert on January 6th in Salzburg, Austria.
