I wrote this sweet little lullaby as part of an assignment for my high school English class. Our teacher had us read 'The Scarlet Letter' by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and then encouraged us to be creative in our projects. The lyrics reflect what I imagined the mother (Hester) singing to her infant child Pearl. This would be a very appropriate sung by a young female voice in a student recital.
