This piece is from the Bach flute sonata BWV 1031 in Eb major. (I have the entire sonata done (transposed) to D major as that's a more practical key for recorder.) The low Eb note on a tenor recorder is often very weak and this change of key fixes that problem. In this new key of D, the Siciliano ended up being in F# minor. This key forces the tenor recorder to play a high C#, often playable with the fingering of Ø13457 (pinching the thumb = Ø). The arranger has several instruments which will give a very convincing high C# this way. This piece is perfectly fine for church services.
