Product Description

Arguably Horatio Spafford's most influential and well-known works, this music has become a standard American Hymn.
The original text set by the composer was inspired by great loss. The tranquil and flowing setting of the music depicts
a peaceful feeling after a divine intervention following a long road of strife and struggle. The composer wrote this music
following the death of his two year old son, great economic complications caused by "the Great Chicago Fire,", as well
as loosing four daughters in a tragic ship wreck, all less than a year apart. Spafford wrote this piece along with his wife,
after questioning reality and seeking guidance from a higher power and coming to the realization that nothing in the past
can be changed, and it is a waste of the future to dwell in misfortune, regardless of the severity. Throughout this
arrangement you can hear the struggle and the pain that this comes with this journey and trek for inner peace.

This arrangement is very rhythmically simple, but more complex in harmonic structure and texture. There are no
articulation or dynamic extremes in this music, rather, each note should have a very delicate appraoch. The goal of this
music is to send a message of triumph and tranquility after great trail.
