Product Description

"Longing" for Clarinet Solo (1983)

"Longing" was written as an example of a solo etude while I was a student studying instrumentation and orchestration with William Thomas McKinley (19382015) at the New England Conservatory in Boston. This brief study for clarinet focuses on leaps combined with lyrical legato technique.

Along with Mr. McKinley, we were fortunate to have these pieces performed and critiqued by talented student instrumentalists from the school. As I recall, this one was left as I conceived it without revisions. I have held onto a number of such studies that I composed during that time, as some posess artistic merit as miniatures, my favorite musical genre.
